The Namibian-German Centre for Logistics (NGCL) is a all-in-one excellence institute, combining education, research and consulting in logistics. It is an institute at the Polytechnic of Namibia.

Background: The Centre bases on a cooperation between the Polytechnic of Namibia and Flensburg University of Applied Sciences, Germany. Both institutions have gained an excellent reputation in the field of applied research, education delivery and economics. The project is part of the "African Excellence" initiative, funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) as part of the "Aktion Afrika" programme.

Vision: The Centre has a vision of "being a centre of excellence that educates leaders in logistics and transport, thus promoting regional economic development".

Motivation: It is a well-known fact that a working transport system is vital for economic development. Efficient, reliable and sustainable logistics are essential preconditions to accommodate customer demands, keep storage costs at a minimum and secure and replenish materials for production in the industry. Consequently, the Namibian government has stated in "Namibia's Vison 2030" that one of the most important areas for the further development and expansion of the growing economy is the advancement of the transportation and logistics sector. The significance of the topic goes far beyond national borders. Integrated logistics are essential particularly for the non-coastal stated like Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Mission: Inaugurated on the 7th of May 2009, the mission of the Centre for logistics is to establish state-of-the-art know-how in logistics in research, education and practice.
